Gettin' Up and Down In Lux Town

Here is one set of stone steps.
Now multiply that by 1,000 or 10,000 SETS of steps.

If you do, you have the basic idea of the walkways in the city of Luxembourg which is built on both sides of a very high ravine. So the city turned it into an all purpose set of walkways, some of which were a part of the former defences of the city.

You can walk up or down. And you might see things like this both unique and bizarre Quirinus Chapel.

The chapel itself is built into the rock wall. The little sanctuary is just plain strange.

The above picture is pretty good, but not sure if it is really old or really added recently.

So, go on the other side of the ravine and look down.

Or look to another angle in the rock wall to another part of the Old Town and the river.

Get close up when you walk some more.

Take the stairs back up.

And see it from even higher.

You get the idea. Depending how strong your legs are...you can walk all over.

Down along the river.

The rest of the town is pretty modern and has traffic jams and bars and train stations and all the shopping you could want....in short it is a modern European city. A good one too.

But I rather appreciate the walkways.

And I thought you might also.

Peace,  Bob
