Time to get on the train and see what Brussels is like.
It was a Holiday in Belgium. Yesterday was Pentecost and even though nobody appears to go to church for worship around here, they do get a day off on Monday in observance of Pentecost. Several of the churches we visited were open and displaying the color red....for tongues of fire!
One of the more impressive pulpits though I would think this would put a tremendous amount of pressure on the preacher, to live up to the production values surrounding the pulpit itself. Then again, maybe the whole idea is intimidation so that the sermon matters little.
One of the things I always look for are the Stations of the Cross and here they have a 3-D quality about them that I have rarely seen.
Belgiums have this thing about ornate town halls and even taller and more ornate and dominant spires. We went searching for this because at the very top is a statue of Archangel Michael slaying he dragon (or the devil). I've seen the dragon around Ghent also...always with Michael's sword down his throat. So we found the city hall and noted the statue at the top which this photo cannot show...still...an impressive building.
Sometimes you don't have to look up to the heavens for your inspiration as is seen in this portion of a door in Brussels.
But, back to Ghent for some final photos.

Great stories and pictures again Bob! Abraham Street, very nice!
